About Yonaguni Folk Museum

This private museum is located near Sonai Fishing Port in the northwestern part of Yonaguni Island.

It was built by Mr. and Mrs. Ikema, who used to be doctors, to pass on the history of Yonaguni to future generations.

The museum has a collection of old folk tools, daily necessities, old documents, and other valuable materials, and part of the private house is open to the public.

There are also beaches in the vicinity, including the beautiful Nanta Beach.

 

How to play Yonaguni Folk Museum

The museum preserves valuable tools of daily life actually used in the island's daily life.

By experiencing Yonaguni's disappearing culture, visitors can learn more about the island's charms.

Open from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm, closed Saturdays, Sundays, national holidays, and the Lunar New Year holidays.

Reservations by phone are required to enter the museum. (090-8292-2515)
