What is Tachigamiwa?
Tachigamiwa is a huge, majestic, sacred rock that rises out of the sea.
This rock, created by nature over a long period of time, has become a symbol of Yonaguni Island, with an old legend passed down on the island.
The place is deeply loved by the locals and is a symbol of the island.
How to enjoy Tachigamiwa (Tachigami Rock)
Tategami Rock, also known locally as Ton-iwa (頓岩), rises out of the sea rather than on land.
Its majestic appearance, sticking straight out of the sea, is a sight to behold, but you cannot directly approach or touch it.
To enjoy this spectacular view of Tategami Iwa, take advantage of the two nearby viewing platforms.
