What is Ayamihabirkan?
This facility scientifically dissects the ecology of the world's largest moth, the Jonagunisan (dialect name: Ayamihabiru), and allows visitors to experience the wonders of subtropical nature.
It also has a hands-on learning function, introducing the relationship between the people of Yonaguni and the ayamihabiru, other insects and animals, and exhibiting endangered species (red data).
Admission for individuals is 500 yen for adults and 300 yen for children. Admission for groups (5 or more people) is 400 yen for adults and 240 yen for children.
In addition, the Twitter account of the "Yonakama Club," an association of friends of Ayamihabiru-kan, is constantly updated with information on the breeding status of Yonaguni San and reports on club activities. Please check it out.
How to play Ayamihabirkan
The Ayamihabiru Pavilion exhibits the world's largest moth, the Yonaguni Sun, and various other creatures of Yonaguni Island.
A video showing the special ecology of the Yonaguni Sun and many other butterfly and insect specimens are also on display, making this a great spot for children.
You can also see the actual Yonaguni San.
