What is Nanta Beach?
Located on the north side of Kubura village and in the northwestern part of Yonaguni Island, it is a crack in Ryukyu limestone about 20 m long, 3 m wide, and 7 m deep.
This place has a sad history: during the Ryukyu Dynasty, the people of Yonaguni Island, who suffered from a capitation tax, sent pregnant women into the cracks of this rock to reduce the number of people, and only those who survived the ordeal were allowed to survive.
